We released over 400 one and two year old river terrapins into the Dungun River today. These terrapins have been raised in the university’s Terrapin Head Starting Facility and the result of our two year (2006-2007) collaboration with the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (DWNP).

The release took place at 11 am in Pasir Kumpal in a private ceremony attended by staff from the DWNP office in Dungun, the villagers employed in the project, myself, two graduate students and the driver from University Malaysia Terengganu. I gave a short summary on the achievements of the project and had a short chat with the group after the release.
