We had a micro-chipping party at the terrapin hatchery on campus yesterday and today to microchip some 300 terrapins.
Looks like its going to be my turn to take flight.
I think the title aptly describes the recent road trip we took to the PERHILITAN Terrapin Conservation Centres in Bota Kanan (Perak) and Bukit Pinang (Kedah), then southwards to Aquaria KLCC before heading back to Kuala Terengganu.
12 two-year old green turtles that have been raised in Aquaria KLCC were flown direct from Subang to Redang Island, courtesy of Berjaya Air for release at Chagar Hutang beach, their birthplace.
June has kept us busy with river and painted terrapin releases. A total of almost 500 river terrapins and 70 painted terrapins were released into the Setiu and Dungun Rivers in three separate events.
88 river terrapins were released today at 9 am in Tebing Pasir Penarik in our simple but meaningful 4th Terrapin Independence Day.
