An afternoon with TCC’s co-founder in Penarik

We spent an afternoon with Tan Sri Dr. Salleh Mohd Nor, Turtle Conservation Centre’s co-founder in Penarik on the 11th of September 2009. Tan Sri was shown the site the Turtle Survival Alliance (TSA) team had helped us select for the TCC during their visit a week earlier.

As fishermen prepared to break their fast on Wednesday, 99 river terrapins raised in captivity had their first taste of freedom.

TCC’s inaugural Terrapin Independence Day: A joyous event told in pictures

The Turtle Conservation Centre held its inaugural Terrapin Independence Day on the 9th of September 2009. A total of 99 three year-old river terrapins that were head-started were released at Tebing Pasir Pak Lah Teh, one of the nesting banks of the river terrapins in the Setiu River.

TCC website is officially launched

Our TCC website is officially launched today dated 09/09/09. We also held our inaugural Terrapin Independence Day in which a total of 99 head-started 3 year-old river terrapins were released at Pasir Pak Lah Teh. The event was followed by a simple “buka puasa” or break fast attended by 40 local fishermen and children, TCC staff, journalists and WWF officers.
