A regional workshop to address direct capture of sea turtles was held in Kuala Terengganu from 1-3 June 2009 and attended by 32 invited participants from Malaysia, China (mostly from Hainan), Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand.
Join us in our historic journey as we endeavour to build the Turtle Conservation Centre from point zero. The next few months/years will be exciting ones as we hunt for a suitable site in Penarik, Setiu, Terengganu to site our physical facilities, embark on our fund-raising activities and launch many wonderful projects to help restore turtles as the icon of Terengganu.
We started developing this website on 08082009 and have given ourselves about one month to complete working on our content. Our target is to launch this site on 09092009. Already we are getting such positive numerological vibes by coincidence :)
This website was handed over to the new project leader after my term in UMT ended. Yesterday Pelf and I received an email from her telling us (to quote) – “My team will be no longer using the website. I do find some comments posted is not used to discuss on turtle matters.”
Long ago, abundant turtle landings in Rantau Abang crowned Terengganu with the “turtle state” moniker.
